Jiminy Cricket Adopted!

Little Jiminy was adopted last night!! He has come such a long way from when we first rescued him at 8 weeks old from the feral cat population (#01NDG09) as a feral kitten. We had to use nets and gloves to catch him. You can not even tell now that he was ever afraid of humans. He is one little kitty with a whole lot of love (and energy). Seeing him get adopted to such a nice home makes freezing our toes off trying to catch him for an hour two months ago 110% worth it!

We got this update from his new mom this morning;

"Just wanted to let you know that Jiminy (or Macbeth, as I have renamed him), is doing very well! I did put all his necessities in one room (litterbox, food, toys, blankets) but the first thing he did was explore the whole apartment. He did stay in the room alone for awhile, but came out a lot in the evening to explore and play with the Cat Dancer.

He ended up sleeping on my pillow, and this morning woke me up with loud purring and lots of kisses on my nose! He is VERY friendly and affectionate today, and full of energy. :)

Thank you for everything! I'm so happy with Macbeth, and he seems pretty happy too. :)"

Update - Feral Cat Population #01NDG09

We receive some very sad news last night about the last kitten we have been trying to catch from the #01NDG09 stray cat population. He was found next to the shelters set up for them.. dead. It is almost undeniable that he died from simple hypothermia. Outdoors is no where for 8 week old kittens.

Please spay and neuter your pets to reduce over populations like this, and thus suffering.

You loose some you win some, but the ones lost are never forgotten. However 100 'wins' seems to never be enough to make up for the 'lost'

RIP little guy - May we rescue 100 in your memory, ato save them from the same outcome.

Jack Sparrow - Post Adoption Update

We just got news back from little jacks new momma.. he is doing fantastic! Still a little nervous around new people, but enjoys licking her and sleeping with her.

Meet the population (#01NDG09)

The black kitty to the right is the momma cat, she had a litter of 4 recently. We have so far only been able to catch 3 of the kittens. One has already been placed! (Jack Sparrow).

Big papa cat, he is the dominant cat of the population and puts everyone in their place. No one eats before he does.

This new kitty was actually dumped there just the other day. We are not sure yet if he is actually feral, or just a previous house pet that has been dumped and scared out of his mind.

We just got these great pictures of Jiminy enjoying his life being spoiled in his amazing foster home!! - Who would have known just a few weeks ago he was freezing his tush off on the streets!

Jiminy Cricket was neutered yesterday, the surgery went very well and he was back on his feet in no time. Now all he needs is to find a home ;)

Jack Sparrow - Adopted!

Little Jack Sparrow was adopted tonight and is now in his new home. Who would have know just two weeks ago he was roughing it in the cold outside! Now he is a little ball of love, and energy, loving the indoor life.

"Just wanted to send you an update on little Jiminy. He's doing great! Coming along fabulously and starting to act like a nice and playful kitten. He's still a bit nervous when I reach into the cage, but hes getting better and loves to cuddle once he's in your arms. Just purrs up a storm. Not at all shy with my boyfriend either! I've setup a cat safe room that he likes to run around in and play with his toys, and he is hiding less and less under the bed. He's also great with my cat (who is still slowly getting used to the idea of a new animal in the house but is behaving herself). Very curious and alert little fellow. Oh, and he's perfectly litter trained so far." - From Holly his foster mum!

Udpate

They have all been tested for FIV/FeLV and the tests were NEGATIVE - Yay!!

They were also de-wormed and had their frist vaccines.

New arrivals & New Project! - Rescued from feral cat population of decarie Dec 12th. We froze our fingers off! But managed to catch 3 of 4 kittens. Will be going back for last and mother who looks like she has a good case of masstitis (ouch!)!
